Winter Institute Book Swap to Celebrate Backlist Favorites

All Winter Institute 11 attendees are invited to participate in the first-ever Backlist Book Swap, to be held on Saturday, January 23, following the Winter Institute Welcome Reception. The Backlist Book Swap will take place in the Plaza Foyer at the Winter Institute host hotel, the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel in Denver, Colorado, from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Celebrating strong and successful backlist titles that provide consistent sales and success for indie bookstores, the festive forum will give all those at Winter Institute — booksellers, publishers, and guests alike — the chance to share their favorite under-read book with friends and colleagues.

Party-goers should plan to don a “My Favorite Under-Read Book Is…” name tag and bring a copy of their pick to give away. Those who bring a book will get to go home with a new one at the end of the night. Books should be at least five years old and still be in print.

In addition to a new book, attendees can take home a commemorative Winter Institute photograph from the Backlist Book Swap photo booth. The photo booth will be in the Plaza Foyer by the ABA Registration Desk throughout the day on Saturday and will remain open during the Book Swap.

The Backlist Book Swap form on BookWeb is open now and will remain open through Saturday, January 23, the night of the event; those planning to attend the Book Swap should add a title as soon as they have chosen it.
