Vroman’s to Host Education Session, Tours for Children’s Institute Attendees

On Monday, April 20, Vroman’s Bookstore will host an afternoon education session and bookstore tours as part of the ABC Children’s Institute, which runs from April 19 to 21 in Pasadena, California.

At 2:45 p.m. on Monday, following a packed schedule featuring a keynote presentation by Mac Barnett and Jory John, two blocks of education sessions, a rep picks speed dating lunch, and a featured talk on how to create a picture book, booksellers will break away from the Hilton Pasadena’s meeting rooms and take a 15-minute stroll to nearby Vroman’s, located at 695 East Colorado Boulevard.

The one-hour education session at Vroman’s will give booksellers the insiders’ scoop on buying and merchandising non-book items. Danielle Borsch, Vroman’s children’s manager, will moderate the discussion featuring booksellers Jesica DeHart, children’s book and non-book buyer at BookPeople of Moscow in Moscow, Idaho; B.J. Hegedus, chief merchandising manager at Vroman’s; and Alison Keyes, head gift and stationery buyer at Vroman’s.

Following the education session, Vroman’s CEO Allison Hill will welcome visiting booksellers and offer them the opportunity to tour the bookstore. Booksellers can choose between taking a tour led by Hill or venturing on their own through the bookstore , where staff members will be at the ready to answer any questions and join in the conversation.

Booksellers will have from 4:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to wander the store, shop, and chat with Vroman’s staffers before heading back to the Hilton Pasadena for the ABC Children’s Institute Author Reception.
