Retail Sales at Bookstores Down in May
Retail sales at bookstores were down by 7.6 percent in May 2014 compared to May 2013, according to preliminary figures recently released by the Bureau of the Census.
May 2014 bookstore sales are estimated at $794 million, compared to sales of $859 million for the same period last year.
Total retail and food service sales in May are estimated at $464.4 billion, compared to $443 billion in May 2013, an increase of 4.8 percent.
