Retail Sales at Bookstores Up in December
Retail sales at bookstores were up by 0.1 percent in December 2014 compared to December 2013, according to preliminary figures recently released by the Bureau of the Census.
December 2014 bookstore sales are estimated at $1,355 million, compared to sales of $1,353 million for the same period last year.
Total retail and food service sales in December 2014 are estimated at $506.1 billion, compared to $483.2 billion in December 2013, an increase of 4.7 percent.
For the year, total bookstore sales came to $11,384 million, down 4.3 percent from $11,897 million in 2013.
