Digital Best Books for Young Readers Catalog Available Now for IndieCommerce, IndieLite Sites
This year, the ABC Children’s Group is producing the 2020 ABC Best Books for Young Readers catalog as a digital download rather than a print catalog.
The digital catalog is now available for all IndieCommerce and IndieLite websites.
The relative URL path to the catalog is /catalog/abc. Stores can link to the catalog by appending the relative path to their website URL (for example, https://yourwebsite.com/catalog/abc). This is a simple way to share the catalog in newsletters and social media posts.
There are two ways stores can link to the catalog:
1. Adding a menu link to the catalog page (using the relative URL path mentioned above).
2. Using the block available called “ABC Catalog Block.” Stores can find this block following the admin menu on their IndieCommerce or IndieLite website. From the admin menu, select Structure -> Blocks
This block can be placed on any region of the website, and the image on the block is automatically linked to the catalog page.
A new feature is the “ABC Catalog Archive Block,” which links to the 2018 and 2019 catalogs.
A visual guide to adding the ABC catalog to a store’s website is available on Bookweb.org.
Bookstores that do not utilize IndieCommerce or IndieLite for their store’s website may download the complete title list, ISBNs, and catalog graphics on Bookweb.org.
This year’s catalog cover features art from You Matter, written and illustrated by Christian Robinson (Atheneum Books for Young Readers). Additional artwork from the book appears throughout the catalog.
The 2020 catalog features frontlist titles published in the year 2020 as well as a handful of backlist titles from 2019, but does not include holiday books so that the catalog may be used year-round. The catalog will be available on BookWeb.org as a printable PDF, including the back page, which serves as an order form/wishlist for young readers.
