Deadline Approaches: Choose Your Spring Indies Introduce Debut Titles by October 25
In order to participate in the spring 2014 Indies Introduce Debut Authors promotion, ABA member stores must select their titles by October 25. Independent booksellers across the country, doing what they do best, have discovered and championed these 20 titles as the best new talent to share with customers this spring.
Indies Introduce highlights 10 adult debut titles and 10 children’s New Voices picks, all selected by teams of booksellers who sought out the best by first-time authors publishing between January and May 2014. Stores must select at least eight of the 20 titles to market through in-store displays, in newsletters, and on store websites and social media.
The Indies Introduce website provides reviews and comments from the bookseller panelists, praising titles filled with “punch-you-in-the-heart prose,” “heart-wrenching sorrow and joy,” and “haunting characters and fascinating environments.”
The excitement for Indies Introduce Debut Authors continues to grow as many booksellers had the opportunity to snag advance reader copies and meet with several of the writers at this fall’s regional trade shows, including Bryce Andrews (Badluck Way: A Year on the Ragged Edge of the West, Simon & Schuster); Nickolas Butler (Shotgun Lovesongs, Macmillan); and Tarashea Nesbit (The Wives of Los Alamos, Bloomsbury). ARCs from New Voices children’s authors Sally Green (Half Bad, Penguin) and Lindsay Smith (Sekret, Macmillan’s Children) were also receiving great reviews at the shows.
Edelweiss has posted the list of Indies Introduce titles for easy ordering, and BookWeb’s Bookseller DIY houses downloadable marketing and promotion materials.
