Bancard Offers New Credit Card Processing Option for ABA Members
The American Booksellers Association has formed a new affiliate partnership with Bancard Systems, a credit card processing company that is offering exclusive, low rates for ABA member bookstores and free side-by-side rate comparisons.
“Our intent is to, by competitive association pricing, lower costs for independent booksellers to handle credit card processing and debit card processing,” said James Gallo, president of Bancard. ABA member booksellers are eligible to receive a rate of 0.12 percent and $0.06, meaning bookstores will pay Bancard 12 cents for every $100 worth of transactions, plus six cents for each transaction.
In order to offer seamless services to ABA members, the Bancard team worked with a list of point-of-sale vendors provided by the ABA to ensure optimal compatibility and easy integration of systems. Booksellers will not need to purchase new equipment to use Bancard’s services and will not experience any hidden fees.
In addition to meeting with the ABA to develop services that meet booksellers’ needs, Bancard worked with Allison Hill, CEO of Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena, California, to identify potential savings in store credit card processing fees.
Bancard is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for customer support, Gallo stressed. “Our whole approach is to satisfy the need of the customer. We service our customers after the sale more than anyone else they will ever experience,” he said.
Gallo was inspired by the vitality and excitement of booksellers while at the Winter Institute’s opening reception at The Elliott Bay Book Company in January and is eager to work with ABA members. “We see a lot of energy in the group and we want to participate in the process of initiating lower costs to independent booksellers,” he said.
In business for 23 years and rated A+ with the Better Business Bureau, Bancard operates out of Valencia, California. To learn more or to sign up, see this flier or visit Bancard’s ABA member page on BookWeb. Bancard can be contacted directly at (800) 748-6901 or [email protected].
