Are you looking for ways to get your bookstore involved and encourage your community to Get Out the Vote this year?

Here are five things your bookstore can do to prepare (yourself and your community) for the election!

  1. Invite the League of Women Voters or other organizations to register voters at your store.
ABA and League of Women voters are both non-partisan organizations, so make sure to collaborate with your partner on the messaging that suits your store.

  2. Invite candidates to debate or present at your store.
This can be a great way to form good relationships with your local government and inform local voters. (Don’t forget to ask the candidates about book bans!)

  3. List information in your store, on your website, and on your store's socials about local polling sites, voter registration, and key races and issues.
You can use VOTE411.org/ABA to help you find this information.

  4. Create sections or displays on civics or democracy.
A timely display can subtly remind your customers about their right to vote. Consider tying the display to an event, like a presentation on local history or a civics professor's talk about the democratic process.

  5. Check out ABA’s Get Out the Vote assets.
Display the poster with our League of Women Voters collaboration link, the infographic for voters, and more!
