Topics for the series include magic and queering fantasy worlds; magic, speculative, and real-life issues; identity in the future; and diverse worldbuilding in short stories.

Victoria Schwab, Tochi Onyebuchi, Samira Ahmed, and Zoraida Córdova will be in conversation with Dhonielle Clayton on a variety of topics. 

The four-part series will take place every Wednesday in April. Booksellers can start promoting the event to their customers now.

Here is a preview of the 50 titles on the Spring 2021 Kids’ Indie Next List flier, arriving at stores in the upcoming Kids’ Box mailing.

During the session, booksellers heard about planning virtual book fairs. A session on planning in-person book fairs will be held on Wednesday, February 10, at 2:00 p.m. ET.

The 9th annual Children’s Institute, slated for June 2021, will now take place August 30–September 1 at the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa in Tucson, Arizona.

Bookseller panelists discussed how to reach out to librarians, what collaboration looks like, the best way to cultivate the partnership, and how a strong relationship with librarians can benefit a bookstore.

Colleen Ross of Books Inc. called Amari and the Night Brothers “a breath of fresh air.”

Bookstores can request bookplates signed by Black Lives Matter founder and author Patrisse Cullors.
