The episode will feature interviews with independent booksellers on their events and plans for the upcoming Banned Books Week.

Indie booksellers that ordered a Banned Books Week promotion kit from the American Booksellers Association should keep an eye out for it in their August Box mailing.

Banned Books Week 2019, the annual celebration of the freedom to read, will be held September 22-28. The theme of this year’s event is “Censorship Leaves Us in the Dark. Keep the Light On!” 

“Every day my e-mail inbox is filled to the brim with stories on attempts to censor,” writes ABFE Director David Grogan, but “independent bookstores remain a bastion of free expression and diversity.”

As part of a social media sweepstakes, PRH is highlighting quotes from books that have been challenged or banned. For every entry, PRH will donate one book to We Need Diverse Books.
