ABA bookstore members will receive a discounted hourly rate of $90 per hour for most HR services. There is no monthly rate and no startup fee. 

Stores have until Friday, November 20, to vote on five items proposed by the Board of Directors.

A late-night Coffee Break for November was also added for this Thursday, November 19, at 8:00 p.m. ET.

The American Booksellers Association’s Board of Directors has proposed five items for member stores to vote on; one vote per store will be accepted, and votes are due November 20.

Videos and writeups are available for sessions on morale boosters and self-care, creating safe and profitable virtual events, curbside pickup and delivery services, cash flow, and more.

Bookstores that do not utilize IndieCommerce or IndieLite for their store’s website may download the complete title list, ISBNs, and catalog graphics on BookWeb.

Stores now have until November 1 before they will be charged a 4.5 percent service fee as well as the new 1 percent commission fee.

All ABA member booksellers are encouraged to nominate themselves or a fellow bookseller to stand for election to the ABA Board of Directors. The deadline is October 30.

Among other business at their meeting, the American Booksellers Association's Board of Directors heard from President Jamie Fiocco on her activities on behalf of the association and from CEO Allison Hill on her activities since the last full Board meeting.

As October turns to November, ABA has created a fresh set of designs to encourage customers to shop early and shop local.

“Serving on the ABA board was an altogether wonderful opportunity and experience,” said Christophersen. “It was extremely gratifying to try to solve the important issues facing independent bookstores.”

The winner will receive $500. Design submissions are due by Monday, October 26, 2020.
