ABA Member Booksellers to Moderate Editors’ Buzz Panels at BookExpo

Three booksellers from American Booksellers Association member stores will moderate the Adult, Young Adult, and Middle Grade Editors’ Buzz Panels at this year’s BookExpo, where editors will talk about the fall’s biggest potential breakout releases.
The Buzz panels will feature 16 titles coming out in late 2019 and early 2020 that are expected to resonate with readers. BookExpo 2019 will take place in the Javits Convention Center in New York City, from May 29-31; all Buzz panel sessions will be held in Room 1E12/13/14 at the Javits Center.
Kris Kleindienst, owner of Left Banks Books in St. Louis, Missouri, will moderate the 2019 Adult Editors’ Buzz panel on Wednesday, May 29, from 1:45-3:00 p.m., featuring the following six books:
- The Warehouse: A Novel by Rob Hart (Crown, August 20, 2019)
- Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid (Putnam Books/Penguin Random House, January 2020)
- Uncanny Valley by Anna Wiener (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, January 14, 2020)
- The Secrets We Kept by Lara Prescott (Alfred A. Knopf, September 17, 2019)
- My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell (William Morrow, January 7, 2020)
- How We Fight for Our Lives by Saeed Jones (Simon & Schuster, October 8, 2019)
Sara Grochowski, children’s specialist and buyer at McLean and Eakin Booksellers in Petoskey, Michigan, will moderate the 2019 Young Adult Editors’ Buzz panel on Thursday, May 30, from 10:00-10:50 a.m., featuring the following five books:
- The Grace Year by Kim Liggett (Wednesday Books, September 17, 2019)
- The Revolution of Birdie Randolph by Brandy Colbert (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, August 20, 2019)
- The Last True Poets of the Sea by Julia Drake (Hyperion, October 1, 2019)

- Frankly in Love by David Yoon (Penguin Young Readers, September 10, 2019)
Emily Hall, co-owner of Main Street Books in St. Charles, Missouri, will moderate the 2019 Middle Grade Editors’ Buzz panel, on Friday, May 31, from 11:00-11:50 a.m., featuring the following five books:
- Weird Little Robots by Carolyn Crimi (Candlewick Press, October 1, 2019)
- Free Lunch by Rex Ogle (Norton Young Readers, September 10, 2019)
- Pavi Sharma’s Guide to Going Home by Bridget Farr (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, September 17, 2019)

Attendees will also have the chance to go to three separate “Meet the BookExpo Buzz Authors” sessions at the Javits Center to say hello to the authors of the titles presented. The Adult Authors session, will take place on Thursday, May 30, from 11:00-11:45 a.m. in Room 1E10; the Young Adult Authors session will take place on Friday, May 31, from 9:30-10:00 a.m. in Room 1E12/E13/E14; and the Middle Grade Authors session will take place on Friday, May 31, from 1:35-2:05 p.m. on the Downtown Stage.
