The winners of the 2008 Book Sense Book of the Year have been announced. These are the titles that independent booksellers most enjoyed handselling in 2007! Honor books are included, too.

The awards honor independent booksellers' handselling favorites in the categories of Adult Fiction, Adult Nonfiction, Children's Literature, and Children's Illustrated. The winners were selected by ballot vote of owners and staff of American Booksellers Association member bookstores. The ballot included titles appearing on the 2007 Book Sense Picks lists, as well as space for write-ins in each category. Only books published in 2007 were eligible. The title receiving the most votes in each category is designated the Book Sense Book of the Year. The next four titles with the highest number of votes in each category are designated Book Sense Honor Books. Winners and honor books were announced in March 20, 2008, and their authors will be invited to attend the Book Sense Author Luncheon and the Celebration of Bookselling at BookExpo America in Los Angeles. Here's more information about the award, and here are the previous Book Sense Book of the Year winners. |
